Davison out for Canada, Scotland’s Brown replaced by Nel

Canada and Scotland have both made one change to their initial squads for the ICC Intercontinental Cup finals in the United Arab Emirates which begin on 17 November.

Canada’s Australia-based captain John Davison will miss his team’s semi-final clash against the United Arab Emirates. A change in the dates of the tournament to respect the period of mourning for the former UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, has caused a conflict with Davison’s pre-existing contractual commitments with South Australia.

The spinner, who was only ever scheduled to be in the UAE for the semi-final, has therefore dropped out of the Canada squad and Canada has not named a replacement at this stage. The experienced batsman Ian Billcliff will take over the captaincy duties.

Scotland’s Warwickshire all-rounder Dougie Brown has been ruled out of the tournament with an elbow injury. He has been replaced in the squad by Dewald Nel.
