ICC
extends deep sympathies to people of the United Arab Emirates
The International Cricket Council today
confirmed that the semi-finals and final of the ICC
Intercontinental Cup 2004 will be moved back by one day to respect
the period of mourning for the former United Arab Emirates
President, His
Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who passed away on 2
November.
The semi-finals,
previously scheduled to take place from 16-18 November will now be
played from 17-19 November while the final has been moved from
20-22 November to 21-23 November.
The UAE is currently in a
period of national mourning after the death of its leader and
there will be no competitive sporting activities in the region
until after 16 November.
The ICC Intercontinental
Cup semi-finals on 17 November will therefore mark the resumption
of competitive sporting action in the country.
The ICC extends its
deepest sympathies to the people of the
United Arab Emirates.
