UAE V/s Nepal

Fahad Usam and Ali Asad Shine

The final day of the 3 day ICC Intercontinental saw another brilliant hundred from ECB lad Fahad Usman who remained 102 not out, as Nepal drew their match at the Sharjah stadium. At the end of the match, the ECB were placed on 18 bonus points while Nepal accumulated 14 points.

ECB continued their innings today with Fahad  playing a responsible knock and reached his first century. He was ably supported by Mohammed Tauqir (31) who put on 89 runs for the 6th wicket as the  ECB team declared their second innings at 253 for 6 wkts.

In reply, set a target of 334 in 69 overs ,Nepal were restricted to 141 for 5 wicktes at the close of play with yesterday’s star performer and man of the match Ali Asad, once again was the  pick of the bowlers as he amassed a 13 wickets match tally to pick up 4 wickets for 52 in the second innings.

UAE V/s Nepal - Day 2

Ali Asad picks up 9 wickets

On the second day of the icc intercontinental cup, ECB’s Ali Asad cast a groom over Nepal as he wrecked their innings by a brilliant 9 wicket spell of 27 overs 11 maidens 74 runs for 9 wickets. The lanky six foot four inches Asad bowled at tantalizing length to keep up Nepal batsman guessing. Had it not been for couple of drop catches, Asad would have well ended with a 10 wicket haul.

Nepal fought back well being 3 wicket down for 23 runs yesterday, with Paresh Lohani 34,  captain Raju Khadka 67 and Manoj Katuwal 24 stabilized the Nepal innings. They were ably supported by Sharad Veshwakar 18, Binod Kumar Das 17 and Raju Basnayat 17 to end their innings at 213 all out.

In the second innings ECB lost two early wickets including first innings centurian Arshad Ali at the score of 31. Asim Saeed 48, Naeemuddin 24 and Khuram Khan 26 were the contributors.

The ECB were 140 for 5 wickets at end of the day with Fahad Usman remaining unbeaten 26 alongside Mohamed Tauqir on 2. The overall lead of UAE ECB is 220 runs with 5 second innings wickets in hand.

UAE V/s Nepal - Day 1

Arshad brilliant 143 puts UAE (ECB) in strong position

Arshad Ali of  ECB became the first centurion of the First Class match for the Associate Member countries of  the ICC in the  Intercontinental Cup played against Nepal at the Sharjah Stadium.

After ECB losing 2 early wickets at the score of 27 runs, Arshad in the company of Naeemuddin stabilized the innings with a 63 runs partnership to take the score to 100.

Skipper Khuram Khan joined Arshad and both displayed an array of shots all round the wicket. Khuram contributed 75 runs with 9 fours and a six in just 78 balls.

Arshad Ali went for his hundred in grand style. His innings of  143 runs were scored in 216 balls  studded with 16 boundaries and 2 huge six’s. Tauqir too contributed 24 runs in the middle order as the ECB side declared at 293 in 82.1 overs.

Binod Kumar Das was the outstanding bowler for Nepal picking up 5 wickets for 61 runs in 23 over’s while Mehboob Alam picked up 3 wickets for 26 runs.

In reply, Nepal were stunned by lanky ECB paceman Ali Asad, as he bowled his heart out in an astonishing spell of 10 overs 8 maidens 5 runs for 3 wkts.  Nepal at the close of play were 23 for 3 wickets in 20 overs.
