Emirates Cricket Board announces team to represent UAE in upcoming ICC Intercontinental Cup against Afghanistan

Emirates Cricket Board has announced the team that will represent the UAE in the upcoming ICC Intercontinental Cup (ICup) match against Afghanistan later this month.

ICC’s 4-day ICup will commence on Wednesday, November 29th and conclude Saturday December 2nd, and will be played at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Zayed Abbas, Emirates Cricket Spokesperson said; “Our 2015 – 2017 ICC ICup campaign has provided us with varied fortunes and results. Throughout our campaign we have been very encouraged with our players’ attitude and have thoroughly enjoyed watching them develop their skills and fitness. This is our final match in the tournament’s series and it is our aim to post a strong result against Afghanistan to close out our campaign.”

To assist in their preparation, UAE will be playing a 2-day warm up match against Ireland at the ICC Academy this Friday, November 24th and Saturday, November 25th.

“We had a very successful 5-match 50-over series last week against Zimbabwe A, claiming a 5 - 0 victory, and our coaching staff, as well as the players, identified areas they can still improve on, so we look forward to this weekend’s preparation match (against Ireland) to fine-tune and hone these specific areas ahead of our final ICup.”
