Emirates Cricket Board appoint Owais Shah as Coaching Consultant

Emirates Cricket Board today announced that Owais Shah will join Emirates Cricket as Coaching Consultant. Shah’s appointment will commence from today, Tuesday September 27th, and continue through to Monday October 10th.

Chief Selector and Emirates Cricket Board Member, Waleed Bukhatir said “Owais worked with the senior Men’s players in Hampshire, ahead of their Scotland campaign, and has built a strong understanding of their current playing abilities. We are confident this interim appointment will enable him to continue the work he began, ensuring their programme continues uninterrupted.”

Shah will oversee the Men’s daily training, to be conducted at the ICC Academy, as well as the 2-day game against the West Indies (to be played October 3rd and 4th at the ICC Academy) and will be assisted by the current Emirates Cricket support staff during this period.

Shah is well-noted as a ‘fluent top-order’ batsman. He made his first-class debut in 1996, and has represented England in all forms of the game earning 94* international caps across all formats. Shah retired from first-class cricket at the end of the 2013 season. He directed his focus toward being a T20 specialist, joining Hampshire for the 2014 and 2015 NatWest T20 Blast series. He has also played in the IPL.
